Saif Ali Khan treads the path earlier walked on by many of his industry colleagues with the forthcoming venture Production No. 1. The movie is produced by Saif and directed by Imtiaz Ali. For the uninitiated, Imtiaz Ali is the man to whom the glaring success of Jab We Met is attributed. So imtiaz should be looking to repeat the magic with Kareena’s beau this time.

Imtiaz Ali has held on to the musical talents of Pritam, the man who has been churning out blockbusters at will all last year. February 2009 is slated to be the month of release, and Illuminati group has taken the seemingly viable job of distributing the film.

Deepika Padukone will be playing Saif’s lady love. This is bound to be some kind of a chemistry. World is a small place, Rishi, apparently Deepika’s would-be father-in-law will take on the mantle of playing second fiddle. Rahul khanna would make a comeback of sorts and would be seen in a support role as well. Rahul will also be seen in Karan Johar’s home production in coming times.

Jai and Meera, reel nameof the protagonists would be seen dancing all around San Fransisco, London and even the ubiquitous Indian metropolis, Kolkata. Parts of the movie are also shot around Red Fort and Purana Qila.

Imtiaz Ali has confessed to taking a risk in choosing Deepika. After all, people would always think of Kareena Kapoor while imagining an Imtiaz Ali film. To cast a newcomer for such a role was challenging but Imtiaz argues that the role was cut out for someone who has a silent presence in the media. It suits the role.
